Above all, the weekend in Zolder brought Nicolò Rocca in his Siebdruck Chevrolet Camaro #22 important points in the battle for the title. He was able to finish both his races with a Top 5-result. He maintains his hopes to win the title in the final races of the EuroNASCAR Pro in Italy at the end of October, where the points are doubled.
Patrick Lemarié, who usually drives the FUCHS AUSTRIA Chevrolet Camaro #66, did without in favour of his protégé Simon Pilate. He wanted to give Pilate more track-time for his home round and successfully replaced his business partner Jacques Villeneuve on the FEED Racing #5 instead.
Iceboys – DF1 Racing Henri Tuomaala was involved in an accident in the race on Saturday. Due to the damage he was no longer able to keep up the pace of the leaders, but with regard to the Challenger Trophy stayed on track and finished the race. In the second race he had a technical problem on his #23 and again was not able to finish in a decent position. Nevertheless he was able to gather important points in the Challenger Trophy and take back the lead.
Norbert Walchhofer, Head of Motorsports at DF1 Racing: "It was a pleasure for the team to see the speed of our Siebdruck Camaro #22. The car is fast enough to win races and we hope that we will see it in the victory lane this season. Nicolò Rocca showed a solid performance in Zolder and with the new classification of the 8 best results of the regular season, Nicolò still belongs to the drivers that are able to win the title. Henri Tuomaala who now is leading in the Challenger Trophy, will do his very best do bring the trophy home to Finland once again. For DF1 Racing it will be an exciting weekend at the Circuit de Rome."
Nicolò Rocca: "It was a positive weekend for us. We improved a lot throughout the weekend. An even better starting position and a finish on the podium was possible. Together with Justin and the mechanics we did a good job. Especially in the second race I was able to show what is possible with the car. We've been able to attack and overtake our opponents and I was able to finish the race on P4. The #22 was one of the fastest cars on track. We have been able to build a positive momentum in Zolder for the Finals in Italy and score good points for the championship. To finish the season in the Top 3 is definitely possible and even the title is still possible. Thanks to DF1 Racing for the trust in me. We have proven that if we work together as a team, we are able to bring home the results we are hoping for."
Henri Tuomaala: "After practice on Friday, I had a really good feeling, the car was running extremely well and without any problems. Unfortunately I didn't manage to bring everything together in the qualifying and I had to start in the middle of the field. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time in the first lap and got hit by another car. With the damage to my car I wasn't able to do a fast lap or to keep up with the rest of the field. So I only tried to score some points. On Sunday we didn't have the right speed and at some point the shifter broke. I had to drive around in third gear for the rest of the race. Despite the bad luck, we are now back on the lead in the Challenger Trophy, which I want to defend during the Finals at Italy." More info! www.df1-nascar.com
